Born on the 2nd February 2003, Zeta is a purebred red Australian Cattle Dog. She was the most gorgeous puppy, and grew into a cheeky, bubbly and clever girl. She made her public debut in Canine Musical Freestyle at the 2004 Sydney Easter Show at just 1 year of age! She also performed at various Pet Expo’s and Demonstrations, at The DogsNSW Spring Fair, and various shopping centres. Zeta participated in Sheep Herding, Agility and Canine Musical Freestyle. Zeta & Janene featured on the American Musical Dog Sport Associations’ 2007 & 2008 calenders. Zeta has featured in two advertisements. Zeta loved LURE COURSING, and participated in many fun events. She attained her Pre Trial Title in Sheep Herding in 2011. Zeta has titles in ADAC agility - Novice Jumpers Certificate, Novice Agility Certificate, Open Jumpers Certificate and Open Agility Certificate. Zeta competed in veterans’ level, and achieved all her Veteran titles and Outstanding awards. Zeta achieved an amazing goal – she competed in her first official ANKC Rally-O event on Sunday 29th April 2012, at nine years of age, scoring 89 points, and she Qualified! She also qualified at her next trial, gaining 91 points, to attain her RN title. What a wonderful girl! She made her ANKC Agility debut in 2013, in a Veterans event, and had a blast. She went on to participate in two more of these event over the next few years. Zeta loved the beach, it was her favourite place to be, running along the sand, playing in the surf, trying to catch those waves, and nibbling on seaweed. She was always ready to go for long walks and rambles, or just sit with me for cuddles. She was the sweetest girl. Camping was another activity she thoroughly enjoyed, and could not wait to get into the tent! She loved discovering new places, checking out the sights, sounds and smells. In May 2015, Zeta was diagnosed with Degenerative Spinal Cord Disease. I was shattered. The vet advised that due to fast onset, she may be totally paralysed within 6 months. So I did everything I could to make her time comfortable. I kept up her muscle tone, took her to physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, stretched her gently every day, and gave her the meds from the vet. I bought her some little red traction boots to aid with stability. Somehow this worked, and she had another great four years, in which she participated in one last ANKC Veterans Agility event. She received a tumultuous round of applause, her happiness was plain to see! In late November 2019, the disease accelerated over three weeks, rendering her paralysed. This was so devastating for both of us. She now had no quality of life, and there was only one thing to do. She passed away in my arms on 7th December 2019. My gorgeous girl was gone. I am crying writing this as the memory of that day returns. Zeta was my bright orange star, my gorgeous sweet girl. I loved her with all my heart, and I miss her immeasurably. Janene. Feb 2021.
